I think I have the same run-of-the-mill self-introduction. My name, followed up by what I do (though, the thing that I do keeps changing). I have to admit, the reactions I get might not be run-of-the-mill. Everyone shows a burst of excitement upon knowing that I write fiction, and they immediately want to know what I'm writing about (something that at least for this book took me a long time to articulate), and then they want to know when the book would be out (this is the main reason I won't be admitting to anyone in the future if I'm working on a new book).
